Wed. Mar. 24
Another early start soon after midnight. Hazy day with light snow
precipitation & light wi-ly [windy?] air.
Some very heavy & tortuous going at first then more level & direct.
A good march. (15 m.) My advance sledges found both Henson & Captain in
camp. They were off before I arrived.
Our camp is beyond the Norwegian record. Egingwah's sledge broken today.
Cr Broke up Marvin's crippled sledge & repaired all other sledges with
the material. This will give us tomorrow 4 sledges with 10 dogs to each.
I leave at this [vertically in margin:] camp Marvin's supplies for his return from the
next camp, lightening our sledges 300 lbs. |
