Sounding reel to have automatic registering device on
shaft.
Peary sextant & horizon to Navy Museum (Annapolis?)
Have my N.P. eye glasses gold mounted for constant use.
Have extra pair ditto as a present to some one?Ha

essentially a straight line, over large level snow
covered floes, some very heavy, some medium, some light, surrounded by
medium old rafters.
Last quarter largely recent ice (average 1 ft. thick).
Deflected to west about 1 mile by open lead. (15 miles)
Cloudy & light snow variable air.
First time since leaving land, light impossible see any distance or
distinguish relief.
Cleared as I arrived Captain's camp. Captain just leaving.
Min. during night -30˚, at starting -15˚, end of march -20˚. |
